A Letter from the Author
Dear Readers,
I am writing to you during messy uncertainty and ongoing global disruption. While we can rarely influence large external events as one individual, now more than ever, it remains crucial to acknowledge that every single one of us is worthy, valuable, and deserving of significantly more than what the world around us can provide at this time. Each one of us has witnessed and experienced bigotry in one form or another; the resulting polarization may have rendered some of us more susceptible to feeling victimized. Throughout our lives, there are likely to be events and occurrences that chip away at our confidence and self-assuredness.
I understand that these issues can be overwhelming and can often make us feel powerless. If I could fix some pressing issues we continue to face, I would. If I could gift you peace of mind—rid you of everyday worries relating to employment, childcare, the cost of living, growing taxes, social and healthcare inequities, and numerous other issues that make an indelible impact on your lives—believe me, I would. And yet, I cannot give you any of these gifts.
What I can do, however, is arm you with a set of actionable tools and strategies that will likely find a versatile place in your toolbox and enable you to face the ongoing and unanticipated challenges in life with a renewed sense of belief in yourself. I will share with you what has consistently worked for me over the years, as I remain committed to tackling most if not all, such situations (I’m only human) in life head-on.
While I may not have met you or heard your stories firsthand, I find a deep sense of connection and believe I can relate to you. The truth is I’m just another person navigating the various circumstances in my life as best as I can, just as I’m sure every one of you has been doing. I’ve experienced the anxiety that accompanies imposter syndrome, the insecurities that accompany unemployment or less-than-ideal employment conditions, the self-doubt that accompanies so many situations that have required me to advocate for myself, the helplessness that accompanies battling more than one imminent health crisis, and so much more. These are not just my experiences, but our shared experiences. I have found that The Confidence Framework has been my confidence companion and has become a core addition to my toolbox. With this sense of conviction, I invite you to read this book and utilize The Confidence Framework as your confidence companion, regardless of where you find yourself in your confidence-building journeys.
Most importantly, your experiences, your struggles, and your victories are all valuable contributions to our collective journey toward confidence. Please don’t hesitate to share your thoughts. I look forward to learning from you. Thank you for taking the time to read this letter.
Authentically Yours,
